Rasmussen, Lars Løkke

Rasmussen, Lars Løkke lärs lökˈə räsˈmo͝osən [key], 1964–, Danish political leader, grad Univ. of Copenhagen (1992). A member of the center-right Liberal party, he was county mayor of Frederiksborg county (1998–2001), then held ministerial posts under Anders Fogh Rasmussen, including interior and health (2001–7) and finance (2007–9). He became chairman of the party and prime minister when A. F. Rasmussen resigned in 2009. Following his party's defeat in 2011, he was leader of the opposition, but he returned to power following the 2015 elections, serving until the Liberals lost the 2019 elections.
