Traikov, Georgi

Traikov, Georgi gēôrˈgē trīkôfˈ [key], 1898–1975, Bulgarian politician and agronomist. Active in agrarian politics from the end of World War I, he rose to become minister of agriculture in the Bulgarian Communist government established in 1946. From 1949 to 1964 he was first deputy prime minister. As head of the Bulgarian national assembly (1964–72), Traikov was nominal head of state.
