Niccoli, Niccolò de'

Niccoli, Niccolò de' nēk-kōlôˈ dā nēkˈkōlē [key], 1363–1437, Italian humanist. One of the distinguished Florentine scholars in Cosimo de' Medici's circle, he wrote little but is remembered for his important collection of Greek and Latin manuscripts. He devoted his time and fortune (as well as funds provided by Cosimo) to this collection, now the nucleus of the Laurentian library in Florence.
