U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announces U.S. and Russian plans for a Syrian cease-fire on September 9, 2016, in Geneva, Switzerland. The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, is also present. The cease-fire calls for both the Syrian government's and the opposition's cooperation and focuses on a restriction of air force combat missions, which have caused the most civilian deaths. According to Syrian news sources, the Syrian regime supports the cease-fire and intends to comply.
