Beginning September 27, 2016, Typhoon Megi makes landfall in Taiwan before proceeding to southeast China and forcing tens of thousands of people to evacuate. So far, four people in Taiwan are dead and 622 are injured, while in China one person dies from collapsing buildings. Typhoon Megi is the third major typhoon to hit Taiwan in the last three weeks. The 38 inches of rain causes continued devastation and power outages for 3.8 million people in Taiwan. An ancillary landslide in the Zhejiang province of China kills more than a dozen, with more than 4,000 rescue workers still trying to find survivors.
