- On November 15, 2016, current Speaker Paul Ryan is nominated as new Speaker of the House. Ryan will have to earn 218 votes to secure his spot, but it is likely he will receive them. For his part, Paul Ryan, while wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat, has this to say: "Welcome to the dawn of a new unified Republican government."
