Donald Trump announces Friday, July 15, 2016, that he is choosing Mike Pence, the Governor of Indiana, as his running mate for 2016 presidential election. Trump was going to make the vice president announcement at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, where he officially won the Republican nomination on July 19, but Indiana law forced him to announce it early because candidates cannot run for both state and federal elections after July 15 in Indiana. After the announcement Pence drops from the governor's race and tweets, "Honored to join @realDonaldTrump and work to make America great again."
