On July 30, 2016, a hot air balloon crashes into a high-power transmission line in Texas causing the balloon to catch fire. The pilot and the 15 passengers on board are killed in the accident. The operating company suspends all further flights and refunds customers. Skip Nichols, the pilot who died, had a history of drunken-driving convictions and the crash triggers scrutiny of the FAA's regulations on hot air balloon pilots.
