Orthodox Christian Holidays, 2010-2030

Updated October 26, 2021 | Infoplease Staff

Here are the dates of the most important (moving) Orthodox Christian holidays through 2030. These holidays move in the calendar year based off of the date of Easter, which is tied to the lunar Jewish calendar instead of the solar Gregorian calendar. The Eastern Orthodox church calculates some holidays different from other Christian denominations; the Gregorian calendar, which is the most common calendar worldwide, was adopted by Pope Gregory XIII. Orthodox churches, which split from the Catholic church before then, use the older Julian calendar. Protestants, who split from the Catholic church after this point, also use the Gregorian calendar. The dates used by Western churches (or both churches) are given their own page
