(H. Rap Brown),

black activist, was arrested in March and charged with murder and aggravated assault. He allegedly shot two Atlanta sheriff's deputies when they attempted to arrest him for failing to appear in court on minor charges. Al-Amin was a member of the Black Panthers and the chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in the 1960s. He converted to Islam in the 1970s while serving a prison sentence for armed robbery.
