British heartthrob Jude Law stars in The Wisdom of Crocodiles, reaching the public after nearly two years after The Talented Mr. Ripley. Law plays Steven Grslcz. Mr. Grslcz (no joke!) is a stylish London bachelor who, well, let's just say that he needs to suck the blood of beautiful young women in order to stay alive. These women must fall in love with him before being bitten (something about love and nutrients). Even with the healthy juices, Steven is slowly wasting away. He seeks true love (actress Elina Lowensohn of Nadja fame).

The film is moody and diaphanously attractive, but capable of raising only minimal interest. Director Leong shares ideas about vampiric manhood with Anne Rice, so Law's character is a tortured hunk who keeps a diary. From Gattaca to The Talented Mr.Ripley, directors have employed Jude Law to typify evanescence, alternately earthy, sexual, and ethereal. The Wisdom of Crocodiles remains in that vein but lacks stronger elements to pin itself into memorability.
