Return to Never Land is a crisp, classically animated Disney cartoon that picks up where the company's 1953 Peter Pan left off. Wendy's all grown up now. She struggles to maintain her family in bombed-out London while her husband is off fighting the war. Wendy's daughter Jane gives no credence to Mom's fairy-dust stories. This young skepticism vanishes when Captain Hook sails into town and snatches her away to Never Land.

What follows remains true to the original. The feature revives old characters and themes with respectful verve. The “classic” animation looks somewhat dated alongside the high-end dazzle of recent cartoons. That aside, Return to Never Land grows old gracefully.
