In this sequel to Jurassic Park, one of the most commercially successful films of all time, we learn that dinosaurs have been secretly bred and are freely roaming on a remote Costa Rican island. John Hammond (Attenborough), the eccentric bazillionare who appeared in the first movie returns, along with chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) who follows his girlfriend, paleontologist Sara Harding (Julianne Moore) to the island. At the same time a group of big game hunters hired by Hammond's nephew, who wants to create a Sea World for dinosaurs, goes on safari. They capture a T-Rex and transport it to San Diego. The movie had been almost believable up to this point. When the movie decides to pay homage to Godzilla by having the T-Rex run amok among the citizenry of San Diego, however, it becomes ludicrous. Needless to say, it's the computer wizardry and special effects that take over here. Lost World is a mindless, no holds barred summer action flick – but the dinosaurs are fabulous and it's a fun movie nonetheless.
