Though based on the 1960s cartoon of the same name, George of the Jungle borrows from Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan as well. The slapstick result illicits only the occasional laugh. “White ape” George (Fraser), who never managed to master swinging from a rope, meets socialite Ursula Stanhope (Mann) while she's on safari. When she learns that rapacious poachers are on George's tail, she whisks him off to more domestic quarters in San Francisco. Sparks fly and Ursula's fiancé (Church) and mother (Taylor) step in to stop the budding romance.
