This adventure in gangland lacks the epic scope of The Godfather and GoodFellas, which is exactly what makes it a solid video pick. An uncharacteristically (thankfully) restrained Walken portrays a 1930s New York mobster who's struggling to hold his family together after the murder of his youngest sibling (Gallo). However, it's Penn as his tormented brother who once again proves he's a rare and often underrated talent.
