Let's hope that the first film of 1998 is not an early indication of the quality of Hollywood films on the slate for the rest of the year. Inmate Shaye (Forsythe) masterminds a prison break that has a group of convicts on the verge of parole donning firefighters' uniforms to help fight a blazing forest fire. Instead of battling the inferno, the group heads for Canada, taking a hostage (Amis). Smoke-jumpers Jesse (Long) and Wynt (Glenn) come to the rescue, with un-fiery results. Long should limit his time behind the camera to sitting at a sports desk.
