Connie Francis(Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero)
Birthplace: Newark, New Jersey
Dark-haired, bubbly singer who made it big with hits like “ Who's Sorry Now?” and “Where the Boys Are” (1960). She sang in many languages, including Yiddish, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese, and also made a splash on the big screen in Where the Boys Are (1960), Follow the Boys (1963) and Looking for Love (1965). She turned to charity work when her film star faded, working for UNICEF and performing for the armed services in Vietnam. She won a $3 million judgement in 1974 when she sued a motel because she had been raped in one of its rooms; the episode left her emotionally scarred and put her career on long-term hiatus.
