Cats Don't Dance
Warner Bros.
Disney isn't the only animation gig in town anymore, and it's about time Warner Bros. got back into the game. Cats Don't Dance offers plenty of song and dance to keep the kids amused, and its appeal for adults lies in the dark humor of this Hollywood parody. Set in the 1930s, soft-shoe dancer Danny the Cat (voice of Bakula) heads West eager to make a bundle performing in the pictures. Little does he know that animals are considered second-class citizens and must settle for supporting roles. When he tries to steal the show in his debut role, he is duped by the smarmy child star Darla Dimple (voice of Peldon). When Darla stages a disaster on the set, Danny gets the last laugh, though. Look closely for caricatures of Bette Davis and Clark Gable.
