Shooting at Republican Baseball Practice

Gunman Targets Republicans at Congressional Baseball Practice
Congress Shooting
On June 14, Republican Congressman Steve Scalise and four others were shot at a practice for the Congressional Baseball game. The shooter, a former volunteer for Bernie Sanders’s campaign, was politically motivated. Many high profile Democrats, especially Sanders, condemned the shooting, and offered words of support for the wounded Scalise. The attacker later died of wounds obtained during a shootout with Capitol Police. (ABC News)

Las Vegas

Shooting in Las Vegas Becomes America's Deadliest
Las Vegas
On October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock opened fire on Las Vegas concert goers from his room in Mandalay Bay. Paddock’s rampage left 58 people dead and another 500 wounded, making this shooting the deadliest in U.S. history. (CNN)

Florida

Shooting in Florida During White Nationalists’ Speech
Florida Shooting
Richard Spencer, a white nationalist, was set to speak at a college in Florida on October 19, prompting hundreds of protesters to attend the speech. Shots rang out against the protesters as brothers William and Colton Fears, while making a nazi salute, urged Tyler Tenbrink to kill the protesters. No injuries have been reported, and the three men have been detained and charged. (Reuters)

Texas

Church Shooting in Texas Leaves 26 Dead
Texas Shooting
On the morning of November 5, as members of the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs met for congregation, suspected gunman, Devin Patrick Kelley, opened fire. The shooting killed 26 people and wounded another 20, 10 of whom are still in critical condition. Kelley was found miles away, dead in his car from a gunshot wound, though police are still unsure whether it was from his own gun, or that of a neighbor. (CNN)

California

California Shooting Leaves 5 Dead
California Shooting
On November 14, a gunman descended on Corning, a small community in Northern California, first killing his neighbor and then turning his attention to Rancho Tehama Elementary School. The elementary school was secured before the gunman could enter, but he continued to shoot at the walls and doors. In the end, four people were pronounced dead and another ten wounded, including a student of the elementary school. The suspected gunman, Kevin Janson Neal, was shot and killed by police upon arrival. On November 15 it was announced that the death toll was actually 5 as the body of Neal’s wife was found late Tuesday night. (CNN/Reuters)
