Bob Dole
Bob Dole married Elizabeth Dole (formerly Elizabeth Hanford) in 1975. She is a Republican who ran for president in 2000, and was at different times both Secretary of Transporation and Secretary of Labor. She also served as a U.S. senator from North Carolina from 2003-2009; she was elected to fill the seat of retiring senator Jesse Helms. Bob and Elizabeth Dole had no children… Bob Dole was previously married to Phyllis Holden from 1948 until their divorce in 1972; with his first wife he had one daughter, Robin (born in 1954)… In 2018, at age 95, Bob Dole appeared in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda to honor the late President George H.W. Bush, who was lying in state. Dole was helped from his wheelchair to salute Bush’s casket, and video of the moment quickly went viral.
