    On this date in 1991, 55 tornadoes struck the central United States from Texas to Iowa and Nebraska, killing 21 people. A killer F5 tornado moved through Kansas from the Wichita area to El Dorado. The Kansas twister killed 17, including 13 people at the Golden Spur Mobil Home Park in Andover. The same tornado also caused a whopping $62 million in damage to McConnell Air Force Base on the south side of Wichita.
