Economy Adds 157,000 Jobs in January, but Unemployment Rises (Feb. 1): The jobs report is released for January 2013. U.S. employers add 157,000 new jobs in January, while unemployment rises to 7.9%, slightly higher than the 7.8% it was in December. Construction, retailing, health care, and wholesale trade all add significantly to the new job numbers in January.
