Description: This personal essay chronicles filmmaker Mitko Panov's journey to the country of his birth, the former Yugoslavia. While still a teenager, Panov was drafted into compulsory service in the Yugoslav Federal Army. Fifteen years later, using as a map and a collection of black-and-white still photos of his platoon, Panov begins a two-year journey to reunite with his old army friends. Panov travels the devastating landscapes of fractured Bosnia, to Germany and England (where a few of the comrades currently live as refugees) to Austin, Texas, the city he calls home.
