Description: The Mariel Boatlift of 1980 was a strange chapter in the history of Cuba-U.S. relations. In a few short weeks, 130,000 Cubans fled to the United States. Combining archival footage from within Cuba with recent interviews of those who came over, the filmmaker looks at those who boldly set out for the chance to start over in a new land.
