Bernie Geoffrion

Born: Feb. 16, 1931
Hockey RW

credited with popularizing the slap shot, earning his nickname “Boom Boom”; scored 30 goals in 1952 to win the NHL's Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year Award); won the MVP award (Hart) in 1955; became the second player in history to score 50 goals in one season; led the league in points in 1955 and 61; won 6 Stanley Cups with Montreal; member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
