2002 NHL Draft

Updated September 27, 2017 | Infoplease Staff

First and second round selections at the 40th annual NHL Entry Draft held June 22-23, 2002, at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The order of the first 14 positions were determined by a draft lottery of non-playoff teams held April 16 in New York City. Only the worst five teams from the 2001-02 regular season had the chance to win the first overall pick. No team could move up more than four spots in the draft order or drop more than one position. Positions 15 through 30 reflect regular season records in reverse order.
