Battle at Bighorn

July 30 at Bighorn Golf Club, Palm Desert, Calif.

This 18-hole match-play exhibition featured Tiger Woods & Annika Sorenstam taking on David Duval & Karrie Webb and was broadcast live during primetime on ABC. It was an alternate-shot contest with Woods and Duval teeing off on odd-numbered holes and Sorenstam and Webb teeing off on even-numbered holes. Sorenstam drained a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to push the match into a sudden death playoff round, which her team won on the first hole. Purse: $2.0 million ($1.2 million divided by winners, $500,000 divided by losers, $300,000 to charity); Sponsored by: Lincoln Financial Group; TV Rating: 6.1/11 (ABC).
