Thirty-three division I players (17 juniors, 10 sophomores and 6 freshmen), 8 junior college players, and 6 high school seniors forfeited the remainder of their college eligibility and declared for the 2001 NBA Draft which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 27.
