Semifinals

Final

Contested by the league champions of South America's football union. Two-leg Semifinals and two-leg Final; home teams listed first. Winner Vasco da Gama of Brazil plays European Cup champion Real Madrid of Spain in the 1998 World Club Championship in Tokyo in December.

Final Four: Barcelona (Ecuador), Cerro Porteño (Paraguay), River Plate (Argentina) and Vasco da Gama (Brazil).
