Consensus All-America Team

Once again the media and coaches could not decide who the best college football team was after the 1991-92 season. Both the Miami Hurricanes (12-0) and Washington Huskies (12-0) would post impressive credentials.

In what would be the last season sans Alliance, The Canes essentially played in two bowls: their 22-0 victory over Nebraska in the Orange Bowl, and their traditional intrastate battle with preseason No. 1 Florida St. on Nov. 16 which came down to the final play. FSU kicker Gerry Thomas' 34-yard field goal attempt with 25 seconds left sailed right and so did the Seminoles shot at a national title.

Propelled by an early season victory over No. 9 Nebraska, Washington rapped up its season with its second straight Pac-10 championship and a 20 point victory over Michigan in the Rose Bowl.

The Wolverine's kick return specialist Desmond Howard dazzled crowds, and Heisman voters, all season winning the award by the second largest margin in history.
