1997 Early Rounds



France defeated Sweden, 3-2, in Malmo, Sweden to capture the 1996 Davis Cup. It was the eighth championship for the French and their first since beating the Americans in 1991. The two matches on the dramatic final day each lasted five sets and a combined nine hours.
