James E. Sullivan

Born: Nov. 18, 1862
Track & Field

pioneer who founded Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) in 1888; director of St. Louis Olympic Games in 1904; AAU's annual Sullivan Award for performance and sportsmanship named after him.

Died: Sept. 16, 1914
