broke 4 world records in one afternoon at Big Ten Championships (May 25, 1935); a year later, he upstaged Hitler by winning 4 golds (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay and long jump) at 1936 Olympics in Berlin.

Died: Mar. 31, 1980
