No.1 player in the world 7 times (1978-79,82-86); won her record 9th Wimbledon singles title in 1990; also won 4 U.S. Opens, 3 Australian and 2 French; in all, won 18 Grand Slam singles titles and 37 Grand Slam doubles titles; all-time leader among men and women in singles titles (167); 2nd all-time behind Graf on women's career money list ($20.5 million); still active in very limited competition; inducted into International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2000.
