Jaime Robbie Robertson, the guitarist and principal songwriter for the Band, Bob Dylan's onetime backup quintet, has been a major force in rock songwriting. He has also had a long association with Martin Scorsese, composing for such films as Raging Bull (1980) and The Color of Money (1986) and acting as executive music producer for Gangs of New York (2002). Robertson, the son of a Mohawk mother, released a self-titled solo album in 1987 and has since explored conceptual and instrumental works.
