Bill Conti composer Born: 4/13/1942 Birthplace: Providence, Rhode Island
An incredibly prolific composer, he first earned critical acclaim for scoring Vittorio de Sica's Oscar-winning The Garden of the Finzi-Continis (1971). His best-known score, however, is probably the one he wrote for Rocky (1976), which included the Academy Award-nominated theme song “Gonna Fly Now”. He won an Academy Award for Best Music for The Right Stuff (1983). He has also composed the themes for TV series, including Dallas and Falcon Crest.
