Convent-educated McCormack has risen quickly to stardom in film. After appearing in Loaded (1994), she played Mel Gibson's wife in the Oscar-winning Braveheart (1995). Her recent work has included North Star (1996) and the lead role as a courtesan in Dangerous Beauty (1998). Other films include Dancing at Lughnasa (1998), A Rumor of Angels (2000), The Weight of Water (2000), Born Romantic (2000), The Tailor of Panama (2001), Spy Game (2001)
