playwright and lyricist Born: Dec. 2, 1915 Birthplace: New York City, N.Y. who, with Betty Comden, wrote the beloved Broadway musicals On the Town, Wonderful Town, and Singin' in the Rain. Green and Comden collaborated for six decades and were widely considered Broadway's most successful team.
