Andre Dubus

Pulitzer Prize-winning writer
Born: 8/11/1936
Birthplace: Lake Charles, Louisiana

noted writer who penned the highly acclaimed Pulitzer Prize runner-up Broken Vessels (1992) and the National Book Critics Circle finalist Dancing After Hours (1997). His writing often drew on his experiences, including his confinement to a wheelchair after losing a leg in an accident in 1986.

Died: Haverhill, Mass., 2/24/1999
