Before this show is dismissed as another prime-time soap, take a look at the cast and the show's creator: Mike White, who starred in and helmed the disturbing indie gem Chuck and Buck. The Greeleys of Pasadena seem to have it all: a publishing empire, a stable of attractive family members, and an upstanding reputation in the community. That's all jeopardized when a stranger breaks into the home and commits suicide. The family, fearing a deep dark secret will be exposed, covers up the death. Teen Lily (Alison Lohman) undertakes her own investigation and unearths a heap of scandals that threatens to unravel the family's perceived stability.
