It didn't take DeGeneres four years to come out on her new show. Only minutes into her second eponymous show she made the now well-known declaration that she's gay. DeGeneres sheds any political or social undercurrents and goes for wholesome fun in The Ellen Show. Think Mayberry rather than Manhattan. She plays a high-powered Internet executive who trades in the fast track for the blue highways of her small town. Leachman plays her mother and Rutherfurd her scatterbrained sister.
