If CBS is so interested in snagging the much-cherished 18+ demographic, then why does one of its biggest new shows feature a widowed college professor caught in a mid-life crisis? Not really the stuff of Buffy fans. Well, check out the subplots. One of Bickford's former students (Harden), with whom he had an affair, returns to Chadwick College as chair of the American studies department—the position he desperately sought. And Bickford's best friend, Steve, comes back to school as Erica after a sex-change operation.
