Angelina Jolie

The Academy Award-winning actress made her film debut in 1993's Cyborg 2 and struggled for several years, appearing in a string of forgettable movies before earning critical and commercial recognition for her performance in the TV movie George Wallace. She won a Supporting Actress Golden Globe for her role as Cornelia Wallace. She followed up in 1998 with another Golden Globe for her starring turn in the biopic Gia. She starred in 1998's ensemble film Playing by Heart, which also starred Sean Connery, Gillian Anderson, and Madeline Stowe. In 1999, she appeared in Pushing Tin, opposite Billy Bob Thornton, John Cusack, and Cate Blanchett. She won an Academy Award for Girl, Interrupted, in which she played a tempestuous sociopath. She was briefly married to actor Jonny Lee Miller, her costar in 1995's Hackers. In 2000, she married Billy Bob Thornton, but the marriage dissolved in 2003. Jolie is the daughter of Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight and actress Marcheline Bertrand. She starred in 2000's Gone in 60 Seconds with Nicolas Cage and starred as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider (2001) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life (2003), inspired by the computer game. She is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. Jolie has adopted a boy from Cambodia and a girl from Ethiopia and is expecting a child with Brad Pitt.
