The Big Tease| Director: | Kevin Allen | | Writers: | Sacha Gervasi and Craig Ferguson | | Warner Bros.; R; 88 minutes | | Release: | 2/00 | | Cast: | Craig Ferguson, Frances Fisher, Mary McCormack |
The Big Tease is a big breeze, but it knows that, and plays up its silly self with gusto. Co-writer Craig Ferguson stars as Crawford Mackenzie, gay Scottish coiffure extraordinare. His lofty ambition—he'd been working wonders with big hair in Scotland—draws him to L.A.'s World International Hairdressing Federation championship. Celebrity cameos from David Hasselhoff and Paul Mitchell add to the levity, but Crawford's unflappable determination as goofy and arch L.A. types attempt to thwart his ambition is the true pleasure. Of course, it helps if you don't mind hairdressing jokes galore.
