Down to You charts the romance of New York college kids Al (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and Imogen (Julia Stiles). It does so without much humor, chemistry, depth, or originality, although the lead lovers are cutely watchable. The precarious excitement of young romance is the theme here, with unusual attention paid to the boredom of routine and the difficulties of long distance relationships.

Imogen is an artist, Al wants to be a cook, and in a hilarious side plot, his father (Henry Winkler) dreams of starting a Cops-style renegade culinary TV show. The couple addresses the camera directly from a few years down the line, a tactic which dries out the proceedings like an overcooked turkey.
