Rupert Everett actorBorn: 5/29/1959 Birthplace: Norfolk, England Well-regarded though somewhat temperamental actor who rescued himself from obscurity with the scene-stealing role of Julia Roberts's confidante in My Best Friend's Wedding (1997). Everett at one point was more famous for being an openly gay actor, prompting him to tell an interviewer that openly gay was his Christian name. Everett's role opposite Roberts has propelled him into a number of leading-man roles, and has called new attention to his second vocation, that of novelist. His work in Shakespearean films includes Shakespeare in Love (1998) and A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999). He stars in the film version of Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband (1999). Other appearances include B. Monkey (1999). Information Please® Database, © 2007 Pearson Education, Inc. All rights reserved.
