Actor whose role as the earnest, talented, but troubled Dr. Mark Greene provided the moral center of ER (1994–2002), the most popular and critically acclaimed television drama of the 1990s. Edwards' early roles were in teen-oriented but somewhat more literate movies such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), The Sure Thing (1985), and Revenge of the Nerds (1984), but more recently he has appeared in Playing by Heart (1998).
