When LA plastic surgeon Sydney Hansen (Kanakaredes ) returns home to Providence, R.I. for her sister's (Cale) wedding, she finds she's had enough of the rich and famous out West. After her mother's unexpected death, Sydney moves back home at her father's (Farrell) urging. She goes to work at a clinic, where she puts her heart and altruistic side to good use. The show proved provident for NBC (despite its contrived, maudlin storylines and annoying characters), becoming the highest-rated new drama since ER.
