The Spanish Prisoner
This maze of a movie casts the ever-amiable Scott as the inventor of a mysterious “Process” who becomes embroiled in a delightfully twisty con game. Martin beguiles as the machinator who buddies up to Scott; meanwhile, Mamet's real-life wife Pidgeon, with her heavy brows and ruler-straight bangs, manages to be strangely seductive, even when bandying such epigrammic lines as “Well, dog my cats.” Not a lot of emotion here but a solid, cerebral puzzler.
