This biopic is more about Francis Bacon's sordid sex life than a study of a brilliant, self-absorbed artist. The film follows Bacon's affair with a young thief (Craig), highlighting how he brutally torments him. Love Is the Devil does not gloss over Bacon's personality flaws, yet it doesn't seem to get to the soul of the artist.
